Who We Are
The Lake of the Woods Arts Community (LOWAC) was formed in 2008 when a group of artists from many disciplines saw a need for a stronger, more vibrant face in the community. We incorporated as a not-for-profit in 2011. With a paid membership of 60 members, regular Board meetings and active committees, LOWAC has lived up to its mandate of inspiring unity, joy and opportunity through the arts in the Kenora area.
More information on the current LOWAC Board is available on the "Board of Directors" page.
The purpose of the Lake of the Woods Arts Community is to foster and promote the spirit of creativity in the City of Kenora and surrounding area of Lake of the Woods; inspiring unity, joy and opportunity through the arts.
The objectives of the Organization are:
- To provide a strong voice for the arts in the City of Kenora and the Lake of the Woods area;
- To facilitate collaborative relationships among artists, the community at large, organizations, business, and municipal, provincial and federal governments in and around the Lake of the Woods area;
- To contribute to the vibrancy of the arts and the quality of life in the City of Kenora and the Lake of the Woods area.
- And such other complementary purposes not inconsistent with these objects.
