LOWAC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

LOWAC will again be holding our Annual General Meeting virtually. Members can register in advance of the meeting at:

WE NEED YOU 

It’s been a busy year for LOWAC, and we are so glad that many of you came along for the ride! Thanks to our active Board and some generous grants we were able to procure, we see an exciting year ahead BUT we need you!

We are in full swing with plans for our second season of Arts@Home that will run from October through to June 2022. We are considering ArtsFest for 2022 but it won’t be possible, unless we have a show of hands for members who are willing to be part of the organizing committee. Our small group of 7 Board members can’t do it alone. We are also considering other events to raise awareness and funds in support of our rich arts community that will be discussed at the AGM. Our ultimate goal is to continue efforts to be a central hub for all things arts in the community. 

The following Officer roles will be coming open at the end of November. Please consider how you can help or pass this on to anyone who may be interested. 

OFFICERS

Treasurer  

Duties include:

• keeping full and accurate accounts of all receipts and disbursements of the Organization in proper  books of account and depositing all monies in the name and to the credit of the Organization to our account at Copperfin Credit Union.  

• under the direction of the Board, disbursing the funds of the Organization, taking proper vouchers; and  

• rendering to the Board at regular meetings thereof, or whenever required, an account of all such  transactions and the financial position of the Organization as provided by LOWAC’s appointed Bookkeeper. *Note that a professional bookkeeper assists the treasurer by preparing all financials reports. 

Secretary  

Duties include:

• keeping records of all meetings of the Members and the Board

• signing of minutes

The offices of Secretary and  Treasurer may be combined.  The Offices of Chair and Vice-Chair are currently filled for one more year. 

Directors:

Membership

  • keeping full and accurate accounts of membership renewals submitted by cheque and PayPal
  • maintaining the database of active and past members
  • distributing information emails via the LOWAC directors Gmail account
  • Sending periodic reminders to lapsed members

We also need directors to assist with overall governance, monthly Board meetings, communication, events and general duties of the Organization. 

Directors shall hold office for a term of three years starting from the date of their election, but terms can be shortened or rotated.

NOTE: Membership renewals are due at the end of November. You can renew via PayPal at https://lowac.ca/membership/  or mail your $25 cheque to Lake of the Woods Arts Community, PO Box 10002 Harbour Postal Outlet, Kenora ON P9N 4T1.

We are committed to presenting Arts@Home with the remaining Officers and Directors until June 2022, thanks to the funds received from the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation and Ontario Arts Council. However, if we do not receive member commitment to support the organization beyond that, we will need to determine if LOWAC has a viable future.
