Dave Schwartz is a former science and outdoor education teacher and long-time resident of Kenora, Ontario. He has experience as a humour writer and considers himself one of the best humorists in his price range. Dave’s comic sketches often lampoon unacceptable situations in the hope of changing them and some poke fun at a wide assortment of human foibles. Dave will share his many insights and experiences about writing, humour and social activism, inviting audience participation and interaction. He will also read from his book Lateral Thinking, which is an anthology of short humour pieces that are unapologetically Canadian (although he has been “encouraged” to apologize for some). Dave’s ultimate objective is to share some laughs!

More about Dave
Dave’s many and varied interests also make their way into his writing: gardening, wilderness canoeing and camping, photography, cycling, birding, reading, advocacy, hockey (playing, not watching although the latter may be more advisable) and just plain goofing around.
He has collected and added to these many musings in his first book Lateral Thinking, which is an anthology of short humour pieces that are unapologetically Canadian (although he has been “encouraged” to apologize for some). He has also been published in Lake of the Woods Enterprise as a humour columnist and in the Lake of the Woods Area News where he sometimes takes a more serious approach to topics.
