Lake of the Woods Arts Community (LOWAC) annual membership fees of $30 are now due. If you have submitted your payment since November 1, 2022, our sincere thanks.
LOWAC receives no sponsorship and relies entirely on membership fees, grants and fundraising to offer the rich array of programming you may have enjoyed over the years – including ARTSFEST, Arts@Home, and in our earlier days events like fun Mondays, etc. We also support artistic development for youth through two $500 grants we give annually to Beaver Brae and St. Thomas Aquinas high schools.
You can renew your membership now using our easy PAYPAL option or mail your cheque toLake of the Woods Arts Community, PO Box 10002 Harbour Postal Outlet, Kenora ON P9N 4T1.
Besides our great programming, which is all coordinated by our small volunteer board (with the exception of ARTSFEST where we had grant funding for a coordinator) we also have to cover some essential (and unavoidable) operations costs, such as a storage unit where we keep our tents, signage, supplies, and files, as well as insurance, web hosting and some accounting services. All of our events are again funded through grants, which our team spends a significant amount of time applying for.
Your membership counts. It makes the difference between the programming we can offer and when we need to defer great ideas because there just isn’t resources or funding.
This means that in addition to your membership fees, we also need you. Events like ARTSFEST require many hands for pre-event planning as well as for the actual event day. We will be reaching out soon with a more detailed request for people to sit on the ARTSFEST planning committee but if this interests you, we’d love to hear from you now. Planning is already underway to have another great ARTSFEST on Saturday, July 16 in downtown Kenora. Email lowacdirectors@gmail.com and put YES! I want to help plan ARTSFEST 2023!
Once again, we greatly appreciate your membership renewal and any help you can give us to continue to fulfill our mission to foster and promote the spirit of creativity in the City of Kenora and the surrounding area of Lake of the Woods.
In this way, we are all working together to inspire unity, joy and opportunity through the arts.
