Cindy Baron – Baron Artistic Impressions

I was born and raised on the prairies with Winnipeg being my family home. My second home in the Whiteshell was where I grew my appreciation for nature and all its wonders. I was drawn to pottery as my first artistic outlet. What started as a way to deal with grief and pain quickly became a passion. It allows me to slow my busy mind and ground me. I love the tactile feel of the clay and being able to create from this lovely earthy material. Pottery will always be my first love, and I enjoy making wheel thrown and hand-made pieces. I try to incorporate nature in my work. I have a home studio where I fire my work by electric kiln and raku. I have also participated in wood firing of pottery.

My work life took me to Northern Manitoba where I decided to start painting. I work in watercolour and acrylic media as well as some mixed media pieces. I enjoy experimenting with new techniques and have recently been working with glass and paint techniques. I have painted a garage mural. I have partnered with other artists and have done collaborative work with poetry and painting. I have hosted a number of shows at my home studio and sold some works through consignment. I prefer landscape and nature as my subjects. I am available to do custom requests and always up for trying something new. In the last year I have picked up stained glass as a new art form. It allows me to use my skills as a potter and painting and incorporate them into this creative outlet.

My work is inspired by nature. I am inspired by what have seen growing up in the prairies and at my family cabin in the Whiteshell. I am drawn to birds, trees and water for many of my works. My pottery is glazed in colours you would find naturally occurring.
