Summer events coordinator application deadline extended to March 31
March 28, 2023, Kenora, Ontario – Lake of the Woods Arts Community (LOWAC) is gearing up for a fun-filled season of arts exploration. Applications are currently open for a freelance event coordinator to work with LOWAC’sboard, volunteers, event participants, and community partners to optimize relationships and deliver on all project goals related to activities over summer 2023. This includes ARTSFEST (July 15), Matiowski Market, and potentially ConeyFest (July 30).
“We had two dynamite coordinators in 2022 that enabled us to revive our flagship ARTSFEST event,” said Leanne Fournier, LOWAC chair. ARTSFEST 2022, staged on the grounds of The Muse – Lake of the Woods Museum and Douglas Family Art Centre was a tremendous success, featuring over 20 exhibitors, 8 performers and a host of free workshops and kids’ activities in the KIDZONE. You can learn more about LOWAC and ARTSFEST by watching a video produced by Matt Kennedy of UpRiver Media at youtube.com/watch?v=LkKFKlklfNE.
“The coordinator is really essential with our smaller population and volunteer base,” adds Fournier. “But they aren’t working alone. We have a passionate group of committee members, who want to help make ARTSFEST and our other programs the best they can be. Art really is central to so much of what makes our region unique and special.”
LOWAC is also looking for volunteers to help plan its summer events as well as partners in the community who want to be involved in some way – during ARTSFEST, at the Matiowski Market or Coney Island Music Festival, to help increase LOWAC’s capacity, as sponsors to help cover some of the programming costs, and fundraising.
LOWAC is a non-profit that is entirely volunteer run and relies on membership fees and grants to cover its operations, programming, and annual scholarships to both local high schools.
